When I make it back to my dorm room, Vayle isn’t there and neither is Liza. It’s kind of a relief. I pull off my dress and climb into bed. I’m beat. I’m aware that I’ve fallen asleep when I see Josh looking down at me. We’re surrounded by dark nothingness. His eyes roll over my naked body. I can’t see his body, but I can feel his heaviness on top of me.

“Give in to me,” he whispers.

Our lips merge, and our tongues meet. I sigh as his lips venture down my neck. Unseen hands squish my breasts together. A wet, cold mouth sucks and bites my nipples.

I can fight this, I tell myself.

“Don’t fight.” His tongue rounds my navel, and then he sucks it. I know where he’s going with this when he lifts my legs and lays them over his shoulders.

“Damn it,” I whisper. This is only a dream.

“Don’t,” I plead feebly.

His tongue stabs me right there. I gasp. He grunts and keeps going.

“Wake up, Zill,” Vayle’s voice says. “Wake up, baby!” He’s shaking me by the shoulders.

I’m close to the explosion. “Vayle!” That’s when I open my eyes. I’m in his arms, and he looks angry.

“Who were you dreaming about?”

“No one,” I lie and scramble out of his arms. The sensations of a suspended orgasm still grip me. That was so dang real!

But Vayle is quick to grab me. “You’re naked.” He sounds as if he just noticed. He slips a finger inside of me. “You’re wet.”

“I am?” I touch myself. “I am!”

We stare into each other’s eyes. I’m speechless, and he is too. Without speaking, he takes off his clothes and joins me in bed. He gathers me in his arms. He’s filling me with warmth.

“You had a talk with Sabrina today, didn’t you?” he asks.

“She talked. I listened.”

Vayle nods. “Were you dreaming of him?”

Dang it. Lie, I tell myself. “Yes,” I mutter.

“What did he do to you?”

“He didn’t make love to me if that’s what you’re worried about. He kissed me”—I point to my nether regions—“down there.”

“Are we going to go through this forever?” he whispers.

“Go through what?”

“Humans, Weks, and phantoms trying to come between us?”

“I don’t know,” I whisper. “I sure hope not.”

Vayle starts slowly. He drops his mouth to one of my nipples and consumes it while three of his fingers prod me. A moan escapes me. He tilts his head back and growls like the primitive creature he is. “It’s my turn.” In a split second, his mouth nails me on the clit.

I shout. This is so much better than the dream. Everything that Vayle does to me is heightened. I thrash against the mattress. I try to scoot away from his oral assault, but he has me securely clamped against his mouth.

It doesn’t take long before I cry out at the top of my lungs, bursting with my orgasm. He doesn’t stop. “Vayle, please,” I plead.

The tip of his tongue finds another direction to stimulate my hot spot.
